The expert meeting will review the position and approach of visual arts education in the education of every child (4-18), against the background of the developing of 21st- century needs and skills. We would like to gather an overview of the standards arts teachers use and, how these standards are implemented, what issues teachers deal with in the participating countries, and how the curricula support students to develop competences

During this expert meeting we will discuss the differences and the similarities in the position and approaches of visual arts education and create an overview of curricula in visual arts education. As curricula can be represented in various forms, the focus in this meeting will be on the implemented curricula. The key question is: what's the enacted practice in the classroom and how do teachers 'deliver' this? We especially want to discuss the role of the 21st century needs and skills in the visual arts curriculum and the quality of the enacted programs. We will discuss how visual arts education can foster the creative and innovative capacity of individuals to cultivate a new generation of creative citizens. What does the student, what does the teacher and what are the results in terms of quality?

Participants : J. C. Chabanne (Ifé/ENS de Lyon), L. Espinassy (ERGAPE/Aix-Marseille Université)
